Why we love it
Passo Monte Croce Comelico has the pleasure of a journey that keeps unfolding. The road carries you between Sesto and the Comelico side of the mountains, with the Sexten Dolomites giving the crossing a distinctive setting. At 1,636 metres, the pass is a satisfying place to pause and take in where the ride has brought you.
We love this road for its sense of connection. The climb from the Comelico side is described by the local tourism authority as gentle, and that suits a crossing to savour at an unhurried pace. Let the bends set the rhythm, look ahead and enjoy the changing mountain backdrop as each section opens up.
Known in German as Kreuzbergpass, this is a meeting point between South Tyrol and the Belluno area. The landscape around it belongs to a wider world of Dolomite rock, Alpine meadows and wooded slopes. It adds variety and a strong sense of place to a journey through northern Italy.
Monte Croce Comelico rewards riders who enjoy the roads between the headline destinations. Give it your attention and it becomes a memorable part of the day: an inviting crossing, a fresh view of the mountains and another good reason to keep exploring.
